Who else is ready for fall? It’s been a hot summer and I’m totally ready for all the sweater weather. And all the fall flavors.

This Fall Sangria is the perfect cocktail for cozy gatherings, date night in or because you made it through the week. It’s packed with so much fall goodness.

Ingredients for Fall Sangria

  • Apple
  • Pear
  • Orange
  • Cinnamon sticks: I really love the flavor that the cinnamon sticks give the sangria. If you don’t have cinnamon sticks, you can use 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Make sure to mix really well before serving as the ground cinnamon may not stay distributed throughout as it sits.
  • Brown sugar
  • Red wine: You can use whatever your favorite red wine is in this recipe. Keep in mind, the apple cider and bit of brown sugar brings some sweetness to the sangria. If you don’t like a super sweet sangria, I suggest a cabernet sauvignon. If you like sweet, use a red blend or sweet red.
  • Apple cider: We have a few apple orchards around us so I always like to grab a gallon of fresh local cider.
  • Brandy: To add a little kick to the sangria.

Macerate the Fruit

First, what is macerating? In this case, it’s a process of softening the fruit along with allowing the fruit to release its juices.

Add the orange slices, apple slices, pear slices and cinnamon sticks into the bottom of a large pitcher. Add the brown sugar and stir to coat the fruit.

Let the fruit macerate at room temperature for 3o minutes to an hour.

Add the Liquids

Add the red wine, apple cider and brandy to the macerated fruit. Stir to combine and place in the refrigerator for 3 hours to chill.

This time will also allow the flavors to blend together. Once the 3 hour is up, it’s ready to serve.

So Much Flavor

The cinnamon sticks floating in the sangria provide so much warm, delicious cinnamon flavor. I think that’s my favorite part of this sangria.

The cinnamon combined with the fresh sweetness of the apple cider, apples and pears is so good with the red wine. Then the orange slices bring a little zip and help balance out the sweetness.

It’s just all so good.
