If you’re looking for a ridiculously easy and flavorful main dish, these Grilled Steak Kabobs are a need.

Steak strips soak in a soy sauce based marinade that provides sweet, salty Asian flavors that are delicious when grilled.

If you’ve ever had bulgogi, the flavors in these steak kabobs will remind you of the delicious dish.

Ingredients for Grilled Steak Kabobs

  • Flank steak: Slice into thin strips, against the grain to ensure tenderness. You can use flat iron steak as well.
  • Fresh garlic: Gives the marinade lots of flavor.
  • Sesame seeds: Add some texture to the steak.
  • Soy sauce: Lots of salty goodness and richness.
  • Brown sugar: Helps balance out the saltiness of the soy sauce. Also aids in caramelizing the steak as it grills.
  • Sesame oil: Just a little is needed to add loads of nutty sesame flavor.
  • Ground ginger: Adds a little bite and freshness to the marinade.
  • Green onion: For garnish and a little zing of oniony flavor when serving.

Marinate the Steak

This marinade is super simple to throw together. First, put the slices of steak into a container or bag. I love using these reusable silicone bags for marinating.

Whisk together the remaining ingredients in a bowl then pour over the steak. Seal the bag and squish around to make sure it’s all coated.

If using a bowl, stir to coat. Place in the refrigerator and marinate for 4 hours or up to overnight. The longer it sits, the richer and more flavorful the steak skewers will be.

Time to Grill

There are two options for skewers. You can either grab some reusable metal ones or wooden skewers you can buy at the grocery store.

If you go with wooden skewers, make sure to soak them for 20 minutes to prevent them from burning too much.

Thread the marinated steak onto the skewers and set on a plate. Continue until you’ve threaded all the strips of steak onto the skewers.

Grill over medium heat, 2 to 3 minutes per side.

What to Serve with Grilled Steak Kabobs

I love serving these kabobs with coconut lime rice. It’s super simple to make while the steak is grilling and the sweet and citrusy flavors go so well with the Asian marinade on the steak.

This superfoods salad is really delicious with these steak skewers. It brings lots of crunchy freshness to dinner.
