If you’ve been around for some time you know that the 4th of July is my favorite holiday. I absolutely adore fireworks and all the delicious, classic American food that comes along with the holiday. The time spent with a huge group of family and friends and the fruit pizza and patriotic desserts.

Who Doesn’t Love a Good Theme?

I am all about the theme-y, red, white and blue food too. Whether its Patriotic Sangria or 4th of July Poke Cake I’m here for it. There’s just nothing to dislike about the day.

And while we’re talking themed food, does anything, besides fireworks, scream the 4th of July more than bomb pops?

These Creamy Lemonade Bomb Pops don’t taste like the store-bought classic but they share the iconic red, white and blue layers. And they are just as tasty.

My homemade version has a base of vanilla frozen yogurt and lemonade that make for a creamy, zingy and super refreshing pop.

The red layer has strawberries to add sweetness. I also chose to add red food coloring to make them bright red but if you want to go natural, you’ll still get the patriotic feeling.

The blue layer features blueberries and blue food coloring. Again, you could skip the food coloring and it would be more of a purple but still fun.

How to Make Creamy Lemonade Bomb Pops

These pops are very easy to make with a small ingredient list but you do need some time. The red layer is made first then needs to freeze before you proceed with the next layer.

This ensures the layers don’t blend together. They don’t need to completely freeze but you need at least an hour between each layer just to ensure you get those nice, crisp lines.

What’s on your 4th of July menu this year? Ours usually consists of smoked ribs, macaroni salad, deviled eggs, cucumber salad, lots of dips and desserts.

We’ll be getting back from our Costa Rica trip around 11 pm the night before so this year will be majorly low key. That makes me a little sad buuuuut, Costa Rica. I guess I can’t complain.

Keep cool and safe this 4th of July.

  1. Awesome! I’m excited to make these! Do you think I could use natural vanilla yogurt and blend with the berries and freeze in one go, eg not starting with a frozen yogurt?

I’d also like to add some lemon in for sourness and to have the white be lemonade flavour – is there any issue with freezing something so acidic?
Also, where do you find the giant striated popsicle molds?

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Megan! You could definitely use vanilla yogurt in these, they just may not be quite as creamy. For the white layer, it does already have lemonade in that layer. Are you wanting to skip that and just add lemon juice instead? It would freeze fine if that’s what you’re wanting to do. You could also add lemon zest instead since that will add a lot more lemon flavor than the juice would. This is the popsicle mold I have. I’ve had it for at least 5 years and it’s been great. https://www.target.com/p/norpro-popsicle-maker/-/A-563304
