Spring Break in St. Louis

Spring Break in St. Louis

We spent Spring Break in St. Louis this year with the kids and kept busy the whole time. There was lots of museum visits, food, hotel swimming and chocolate. Today I’m going to share some of our favorite pictures from our little trip and in a separate post sometime soon I’ll be sharing about all the delicious food we ate.

Gateway Arch

Sadly, the Gateway Arch is currently closed for system improvements so we weren’t able to go to the top which was a huge letdown for Noah. It was what he was most excited about so it was a little heartbreaking having to break the news to him. They open back up in 2 months so he’s already planning our return trip….in 2 months.

Since we weren’t able to go to the top, we took a river boat cruise instead to learn about the arch and the history of the city. I didn’t get a whole lot out of it because the kids were boooored and hungry.

Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate Factory Tour

Now this place kept their attention. The tour was probably about 20 minutes and we learned so much interesting information. It’s a family owned operation that uses only natural ingredients in their candies and solar power to run the facility. They are also fair trade certified. All those facts just make you love it more. The kids loved watching the candy go into the chocolate waterfall. We just finished reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so it was perfect timing.

The Magic House

This place is a children’s museum on crack. It’s insanely huge and we could have spent the whole day there. Both of the kids were entertained by all the exhibits and even played nicely together. So basically, this place works miracles. It’s also close to a delicious bakery specializing in the famous gooey butter cake (more on that in the food post).

And we’ll end with some random photos from the beautiful neighborhood near our hotel. Vacation is for Starbucks and this location was kind of magical. It was right near the St. Louis Basilica so I hopped out of the car to capture a few photos of it as well.
